Corey Powell

Freelance trombonist performing, recording, touring and teaching in the Central Florida region since 1994. Performed with many legendary salsa artists, gospel artists and R&B artists. Performed at the 2012 Playboy Jazz Festival and in 2014 for the Bollywood IFFA awards in Tampa, FL with internationally known composer/musician Pritam Chakraborty. Was the leader of a 7-piece Latin Jazz band - Sweet Picant which had some of the area’s best musicians, including Grammy award winning artist Eddie "gua gua" Rivera (you are missed my brother).

Several of my students have received music scholarships at major universities and are now either teaching or performing music professionally.

I have recorded on dozens of projects of diverse genres. I love everything from classical to Afro Funk and all styles in between. I play all low brass instruments but my principal instrument is trombone. I also am a decent conch shell player! Currently I am the band leader of Orlando, Florida's hottest new big band - The Swingin' Monitos! We have some of the very best musicians in Central Florida in this band. Our debut concert was on May 27, 2018 and we featured guest artist Dave Steinmeyer. I also am the trombone artist & US sales rep. for Sierman trombones
